have a live, visual, medical examination with a licensed physician over the
Internet. Tayler emphasizes the benefit of this technology especially for
people who have trouble visiting a medical clinic in person because of
mobility issues, a lack of transportation, or a lack of medical facilities in
the area. “This is a significant improvement on the static, self-diagnosing
websites so prevalent on the Internet today,” says Tayler.

I think this is a great idea but I’m not in the dating field any longer.

Now, I’ve tried out my fair share of Internet dating, and usually the problems I encountered were the same as those my dates no doubt found: he / she looks fine on paper, and even in photos, but in person there is zero chemistry. WooMe aims to solve that problem by combining the benefits of speed dating - a minute to talk to someone and get that gut feeling about them before you bother meeting - with the convenience of the Internet. I wonder if the Skype-like design is intentional…

You get one minute to exchange pleasantries over webcam, and then you can choose between politely rejecting the hopeful or confirming that the wooing process has begun and moving on.

(CNET.com) — The Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 is nearly identical to the QuickCam Pro for Notebooks Webcam, except for the fact that it’s a better fit for laptops. This $99 desktop Webcam is larger than its laptop sibling, but its flexible, two-hinged stand works equally well resting directly on your desk or atop your desktop’s LCD or your laptop’s screen.

As was the case with the laptop Webcams I reviewed last month, the QuickCam Pro 9000 delivers better image quality than competing desktop Webcams from Creative and Microsoft. Logitech’s RightLight technology provides a well-balanced, vibrant, and clear image — even in low light.

While Creative’s Live Cam software has more features, unless motion capture surveillance or time-lapse Webcam photography interest you, you’re better off with the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000. With its easy-to-use software, stellar image quality, and sturdy, flexible stand, it earns our Editors’ Choice award.

Anyone had a chance to try one of these?  Reminds me of the early days of video conferencing on dial-up lines.

“Logitech’s QuickCam Deluxe was a good camera for video chatting and it was pretty easy to use besides a few minor problems. Although the quality of the still images could have been better, it would be worth $60 if you’re in need of a reliable web camera.

Pros

• Frame rate
• 20mm adjustable clip
• Free HP Photosmart software
• Travel pouch

Cons

• Still images were not clear
• Not great in natural light
• Not completely functional with all chat clients
